ATI Multimedia Center™ 9.14 System Requirements
This section provides information on the system requirements for successful installation and operation of the ATI Multimedia Center™ 9.14. The following is a list of system requirements for successful installation of the ATI Multimedia Center™ 9.14:
- Sound Card with DirectSound drivers
- USB Port (for the Remote Wonder™ control)
- 512 MB of memory recommended
- Intel® Pentium® 4/Celeron™ D, AMD® /Athlon® or compatible
- Windows XP or Windows XP MCE
- DirectX 9.0 or later
- USB 2.0 port for TV Wonder USB Edition support
Note: ATI All-in-Wonder® products must be installed as the primary display adapter under the Windows operating system. This however, does not pertain to ATI TV Tuner products such as, the ATI TV Wonder™ series or the ATI HDTV Wonder™.
Note: The ATI MulTView™ functionality requires a powerful CPU in order to enjoy its full functionality. The ATI MultiMedia Center™ may become unstable if using the MulTView™ functionality without meeting the minimum system requirements.
Note: Windows 2000, NT, Windows 98/98SE and Millennium Edition are not supported.
Caution: It is recommended that you uninstall any previous version of ATI Multimedia Center™ before installing this version.
Resolved Issues
The following section provides information on issues that have been resolved with the latest release of the ATI Multimedia Center™. These include the following:
- An AVI file can now be played back when a TV recording is also taking place
- Launching the radio no longer results in the Select the default FM Radio device being listed as "Unknown AVStream Source 1"
- The TV Source is no longer listed as "Unknown AVStream Source 1" in the "Scan for Channels" dialog box that appears during the TV initialization
- A "No Signal Found" message is no longer displayed in the center of the screen after re-launching the MMC after its initial launch
- Using GuidePlus+ to set a scheduled recording no longer results in the recording failing to activate
- Creating a scheduled recording and selecting Start in Eazylaunch, no longer results in the recording starting in a windowed mode after restarting the MCE system
- Argentina is now set to PAL_N_COMBO resolving issues that may have been experienced when using the TV
- Using the MMC to watch TV followed by launching GuildPlus+, no longer results in the TV station change to channel 2
- An ATIMMC.EXE error message is no longer displayed when using the ATI MMC to run a TV scan under the Windows operating systems
Known Issues with the ATI Multimedia Center™
The following section provides information on known issues and product limitation for the ATI Multimedia Center™ 9.14. These include the following:
- Entering the Broadcast time option and selecting to start watching a TV program from the beginning after watching TV for an extended period of time may result in the Time Shift slider bar moving to the beginning, but the playback of the video remains in the same place. - Scheduling a TV recording using any supported format, may on rare occasions result in the scheduled recording failing to start until using the mouse to click on any portion of the ATI MMC. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20031
- Starting a UTV session, followed by switching from UTV to Component/S-Video, and then back to UTV may result in a momentary flash of static video and audio before the UTV session resumes normally. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21498
- Setting the region to PAL may result in the UTV window appearing slightly off center. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21513
- When playing a timeshifted file in EAZYLOOK™ mode the content cannot be exported by pressing the "Record" button on the remote control. Further details can be found in topic number 737-22384
Color Depth and Resolution Switching
Changing the color depth or display resolution while the ATI Multimedia Center™ is running may result in an operating system or ATI Multimedia Center™ failure. ATI recommends you exit the ATI Multimedia Center™ before changing the resolution, color depth, or switching to a full screen DOS session.
Recording from a Source Encoded with Analog Copy Protection
The ATI All-in-Wonder™ products detect analog copy protection on the input source and will refuse to capture video from such sources. The record button automatically becomes disabled. Further, TV-ON-DEMAND is not possible with an analog copy protected source.
TV Magazine and HTML Files
When using the TV Magazine feature, if you save to an .html file, note that still captures are saved in the same directory where the .html file is located. Each still capture is saved as a separate .jpg file. This is the correct behavior for HTML documents.
Video CD Playback
Certain older Video CD 2.0 discs contain authoring problems, which prevent them from working under Windows XP and Windows XP MCE.
Still Capture and the File Player
Still capture is not supported for all formats that can be played through the File Player. For these formats the still capture button does not function.
Corrupted Database with Gemstar Guide Plus+
While ATI and Gemstar closely monitor the TV Listings data, on rare occasions corrupted data may make the TV Guide software fail to startup. If this occurs, follow these steps:
- Go to the Add/Remove Programs.
- Select Gemstar GUIDE Plus+.
- Click on Add/Remove programs.
- When the dialog appears select Repair.
This will repair the broken database. The next time you run GUIDE Plus+ you will be asked to re-enter your name, E-mail and ZIP/Postal code.

Known Issues with DVD Playback
This section provides information on known issues with the DVD Playback. This includes the following:
Color Depth Requirements
Playing DVDs in 8 bits per pixel (256 color mode) may result in choppy playback.
Jittery DVD Playback
On certain DVD video content you may experience sporadic jittery playback. You may also experience this while opening other windows or applications while DVD is playing. Make certain that you have the latest chipset drivers for your system to ensure optimal playback, and ensure that you have DMA enabled.
Screen Savers
The ATI DVD player cannot disable certain windows screen savers. OpenGL screen savers should not be activated during DVD playback. Disable any system screen savers before running DVD.
